Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort
Tobago, Trinidad & Tobago

efm was tasked by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to renovate, refurbish and re-open a 200 room beachfront resort that was originally operated as a Hilton Resort but had been closed for several years. The job was completed in record time and within budget and efm was asked to stay on as manager of the resort and adjoining PGA designed 18-hole Golf course. efm recommended the architect and interior designer and oversaw the specification and purchase of all furniture, fixtures and operating equipment, recruited the management team, trained the employees, and marketed the new resort worldwide. The Magdalena Grand has enjoyed over 60% occupancy and was awarded the coveted Trip Advisor “Certificate of Excellence” in its first year of operation.

Jaragua Hotel & Casino
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Worked with the Dominican government to negotiate purchase of the landmark hotel and orchestrated a lease of the casino with the seller. The property then gained affiliation with Renaissance and became the city’s leading business hotel.

Provided technical assistance to the project architects and interior designers; oversaw recruitment and selection of management team; handled marketing prior to opening; prepared marketing and business plan; established operating procedures; and provided continued management services.

Unique Hotel
Sao Paulo, Brazil

Nik Eastwick-Field worked with a local Brazilian entrepreneur to design, build and start-up operations of this iconic Design Hotel in Sao Paulo that was recognized as one of the “50 best new Hotels” in 2003 and again as one of “The Seven New Wonders of the World” in 2004 by Conde Nast Traveler. Nik was involved from the inception through to opening and oversaw operations for the first two years.

Ramada Treasure Island Resort
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Upon recommendation by Nova Scotia Bank, repositioned, managed and oversaw operations of the resort on behalf of ownership.

Mutiny Hotel
Coconut Grove, Florida

Performed general manager day to day activities for the hotel program and oversaw the condominium association administration and managed all related services.

Grand Beach Resort
St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands

Coordinated a complex insurance claim in order to secure funding for a major renovation project following Hurricane Marilyn (project consisted of $25 million in hurricane repairs alone.) Successfully reopened the 300-room resort after being closed for one year.

Royal Reef Hotel
Belize, Central America

Facilitated securing of IFC financing to develop and operate new 150-room hotel in Belize under the Ramada flag. Provided technical assistance to owners, architect and interior designer; prepared business plan and operating financial projections.

Renaissance Hotel
Sao Paulo, Brazil

Developed and operated the 452-room hotel on behalf of a major Brazilian pension fund. The property is widely recognized as the best business hotel in the city.

South Ocean Hotel & Golf Club
Nassau, Bahamas

Managed refurbishment and operation of resort and golf club with time-share component.

Ramada Hotel
New Orleans, Louisiana

Represented Owner for the redevelopment of the hotel in downtown New Orleans to a Warwick  Hotel condominium hotel following major damage during Hurricane Katrina. Presented new model suites and worked on new condo documents.
