Notable projects Murphy has been involved with include Elegant Boutique Hotels in Barbados where he served as chief operating officer and The Mutiny Hotel in Miami, Fla. where he served as general manager. He was also Vice President of development, logistics and planning for the Leash & Mackenzie Group, a construction company focused on the restoration and refurbishment of hotels and resorts throughout Florida and the Caribbean.
Murphy was awarded Renaissance Hotels’ International Leadership Award for his work in the Caribbean as well as a coveted Hospitality Hotel and Restaurant Award International Hotel and Restaurant Award, recognizing The Mutiny as one of the top ten condo-hotels in the U.S. Murphy’s past professional appointments include first vice president of the St. John and St. Thomas Hotel Association, director of the St. Thomas Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the U.S. Virgin Islands Tourism Cluster, director of the American Disabilities Act in St. Thomas and chairman of Elegant Hotels Community Fund in Barbados. He is actively involved in the Caribbean Hotel Association and currently a director of the Tobago Hotel Association. He is a member of the Institute of Hospitality in the U.K. and is also a founding member and active participant in the Caribbean Haiti Initiative, a group of private enterprises offering key services for rebuilding private sector projects in Haiti. He received his Community Association Manager license in 2005.
Director Business Development
Roland is Director Business Development of efm Hospitality Solutions, a hotel and asset management company specialized in delivering expert and professional support to owners seeking a proven, dedicated and modern team of professionals to successfully manage and enhance their assets. With the support of a dedicated team specialized in resort and Caribbean hospitality management, Roland has been successful in targeting and negotiating new leisure opportunities for the Caribbean Hospitality Group in prime destinations in the region such as St. Kitts and Aruba.
Roland was also the founder and principal partner of Hospitality Advisors, a focused boutique firm that targeted high quality engagements in the company’s areas of expertise – acquisition/disposition of properties and advisory services.
Prior to these entrepreneurial ventures, Roland oversaw all development activities for the Radisson Hotel Group in the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America region guiding the deployment of company resources and leading an aggressive development team focused on evaluating, negotiating and structuring acquisition opportunities as well as management and franchise agreements to expand Radisson’s presence (today over 700 hotels in the Americas and 70 hotels in Latin America).
In his leadership role over the last 25 years with several international hospitality groups, Roland has successfully acquired, built and negotiated an extensive hotel portfolio including a number of luxury and first-class hotel assets, positioning several prominent international hotel companies as prime operator and franchisor in various segments (Regent, Renaissance, Radisson and Park).
Roland is fluent in English, Spanish, and French and proficient in Portuguese. He has dual citizenship in the United States and France.
VP Sales & Global Brand
Mike Fegley joined efm Hospitality Solutions as Vice President of Sales and Global Branding after an illustrious career with several of the most important hospitality companies in the industry. He is responsible for coordinating and directing all sales activities at efm and taking a lead role in negotiating all branding relationships for the benefit of our property owners and stakeholders.
Mike lead the Americas based, client-facing sales team for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and was responsible for driving revenues for all IHG-branded properties through the development of global business opportunities from key market segments. He led all customer-facing sales teams for the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Latin America, including the mid-market sales team.
Prior to joining IHG, Mike held senior management positions with Holiday Inns, Inc., where he began his career in 1976, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Carlson Companies.
Mike advocates continuing education through membership in key industry organizations. He served on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Travel Association (USTA); the Board of Directors for the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI); and the Board of Directors for Tourism Cares. He served on the National Defense Travel Association (NDTA) Advisory Board and the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) Marketing Council. Mike also held board positions with Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), and Global Business Travel Association (GBTA).
Devanand is the Regional Controller of efm Hospitality Solutions. With nearly 30 years’ experience in hospitality finance, Devanand brings unparalleled expertise to efm and its clients.
His career began as chief accountant for Sheraton Heathrow Hotel, United Kingdom. This engagement was followed by his being selected to the position of assistant financial controller, first at the Radisson Slavjanskaya Hotel in Moscow and later for the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. He then was solicited to be financial controller of Jurys Clifton Ford Hotel in London, then the Holiday Inn Regent’s Park Hotel in London, followed by the Crowne Plaza London The City, and later Carlisle Bay in Antigua.
Devanand’s career then led him to the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort in Tobago where, during the pre-opening of the hotel, he assembled a new team in finance, designed the purchasing department group, and led the implementation and training of the hotel property management system and the hotel POS system. He then wrote and implemented the hotel’s financial policy and procedures and integrated them into hotel operations.
Recently, Devanand served as director of finance of the Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas where he led a staff of twenty-two that included purchasing, hotel stores and internet technology, and was part of the executive committee to drive strategic decision-making to improve business levels.
Regional Sales Director
Tracy is a Caribbean national with 15-years’ experience in sales in the travel industry, specifically representing the Caribbean in global markets.
Her expansive expertise was achieved first at priceline.com as Regional Manager, Caribbean and Mexico, and later at Melia Hotels International, as Director of Online Travel, before branching out to represent island destinations like Trinidad & Tobago and Anguilla, and individual hotels in Barbados, Curacao and Jamaica.
At priceline.com, she was responsible for growing the revenue for the region by contracting new hotels and working with them to maximize the value of the priceline.com channel. At Melia Hotels International, she was in charge of online market and trends analysis, revenue optimization, market development and online partner relationships for the nearly 30 hotels and resorts in the Americas.
Tracy is also known for assessing traditional tour operator and wholesaler and online travel markets and trends for the US, Canada and UK markets to the Caribbean. Her ability to analyze and develop new distribution partner pathways helps drive immediate and long-lasting sales strategies.
Tracy’s earlier experience included a position as a Strategy Consultant for Arthur Anderson, where she conducted various feasibility studies and due diligence analyses for the tourism sector.
Roberta started her advertising and marketing agency in 1978 when there were very few women ad executives and even fewer women-owned businesses. She was on top of her game having worked for several major clients and advertising agencies. She created ads, brands and slogans that are still used and recognized today.
Roberta drives herself and her team to reach new heights of creative excellence. To ensure that, she applies her long recognized skills as a copy chief and an art director to the creation of concepts that will later be developed into compelling campaigns adaptable to a full range of media applications targeting all audiences.
Roberta is an advertising pioneer in the South Florida region and through her body of work has been recognized as an advertising legend. Her talent and tenacity are unquestionable and second to none. Even after tasting success for over 30 years, Roberta is still extremely involved from concept to creative and even in writing, producing and editing. This has cemented her reputation as one of the best in the industry and a consistent source of delivering her clients stellar results.
Her background is well diversified with extensive experience in travel, health care, financial, retail, b2b, marine, publishing and ecommerce.
When Roberta is not working behind her desk you can find her enjoying the beach, attending wine tastings, or traveling.
Larry spent twenty-five years on the corporate side, first as a lawyer in Philadelphia representing Fortune 500 corporations, then for the better part of two decades building a state-wide bank holding company in Florida known as Pan American Banks where he served as vice chairman of the board. Following the sale of the bank holding company to what is now Bank of America, Larry joined the Marketing Group.
Larry brings big picture corporate and legal perspectives to the Group and has been instrumental in advising clients in those areas, as well as handling some of the largest clients. Having occupied a seat on the corporate side of the table, he sees marketing from the client’s point of view. Larry’s expertise as a former corporate executive makes him a unique and invaluable asset. Furthermore, as an attorney Larry grasps the legal ramifications of business moves, marketing strategies and publicity campaigns. It is for these reasons that he directs the Group’s corporate communication, business planning and marketing consulting activities. As the head of account service and administration, Larry’s corporate experience adds professionalism and integrity, a fact attested by every client the Group has served.
When Larry is not with a client or working in his office you might find him at a sporting event, an Orange Bowl Committee meeting, or meeting with his law firm partner in Miami.
René has a penchant for seeking out and taking full advantage of marketing opportunities. After graduating with awards from college, René joined Roberta to get her feet wet in the advertising world. She worked her way up through traffic, account service and media buying.
She applies her talents to the media side of the business, where her forte is the identification of both traditional and non-traditional advertising and promotional options that afford clients the chance to reach target markets effectively and cost-efficiently. She is assertive, has strong business acumen and enjoys the challenge of getting more and paying less.
René supervises media buys and negotiates all major media contracts, like no one else. René buys millions of dollars annually in trade and consumer media for her travel clients.
René is active in many social and civic organizations in the South Florida community including the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce, Lighthouse Point Chamber of Commerce, Visit Florida, Food for The Poor and Saint Andrews School.
